A fun, refreshing and easy activity with your toddler – WATERMELON POPSIES! π The perfect treat on a hot, sunny Saturday!
I loved doing it because it’s very easy, my daughter loved helping me out in the kitchen and, well, mostly she ate the watermelon which is still good as it is very hydrating and she looked forward to the finished product. The best part, it kept both of us away from gadgets while spending quality time together! A fun bonding activity. π If you haven’t yet, please see also my other article on slime making here – Gadget Replacement Activity: Slime (or so) Making.
Excited? Let’s get started, shall we?
Here’s what you will need:
- ripe watermelon
- honey (or sugar)
- kiwi or another fruit (optional)
- buco juice (optional)
What you will do:
- Scoop or cut the watermelon in small pieces (toddlers can help here).
- Drizzle some honey (to taste).
- Separate the watermelon juice in a glass.
- Pout in the watermelon scoops with honey, add the juice (or buco juice or water) into your blender. Just a very little amount because if too much your posies will be icey.
- Blend until your desired consistency.
- Slice the other fruit ingredients into thin pieces. I like kiwi (such as in the photo below) but feel free to use your fave fruit to go perfectly with the watermelon.
- Pour your watermelon smoothie into your mold, add the fruit slice and store in the freezer.
- Wait a few hours (overnight for us) and enjoy!
Tip: Do not fill the mold to the brim as the freezing action will cause it to expand and spill.
